Who We Are

The Mineral Development Agency started as a division of Mining and Geology under the defunct Ministry of Cooperative, Commerce, Industry and Tourism in 1983. It metamorphosed into a department in Governor’s office in 2014 and was later upgraded into an Agency in August, 2014.

Mandate

Develop and manage the solid minerals sector in accordance with the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act and relevant state lawsPromote investment opportunities in mineral exploration and mining.Monitor mining activities to ensure compliance with environmental and community development standards.Facilitate revenue generation from mineral resources.Provide technical and professional support to government on mineral resource development.Coordinate geological investigations and maintain mineral resource information for the State.
